Top 10 Reasons

We Listened

After 30+ years consulting with over 8,000 screenprinters and working with
thousands of attendees at the School of Screenprinting, we listened and this is what…

We Learned

You want a knowledgeable and experienced person to teach you all that
they know in a stress-free, non-sales pitch manner!

Surprise

We understand and that’s exactly what we do!

Top 10 Reasons to Attend the School of Screenprinting…

1. Educational-Based Training – We are the only educational-based training facility in the world that does not push any particular brand of screenprinting equipment or supplies. You can be assured that the workshops are NOT captive sales pitches for equipment or supplies. Yes, all of those who present workshops will make this claim, but you can be sure that if a manufacturer or distributor is offering training, that their bottom line is to increase their sales. Unlike other instructors, we do not get paid in any manner by any company to promote their products.

2. Not Just T-shirts! – After decades of practical owner experience, we know that even T-shirt printers get requests from their clients to print a wide variety of substrates – decals, posters, signage, and more. We address this at the School of Screenprinting by presenting a much wider range of information than any other workshop in the industry. Be prepared for success when your clients ask for the unusual! At the beginning of each workshop, we interact with the attendees to learn about the type of printing they will be doing and discuss their future expectations in order to present the information that they want to receive.

3. Qualifications of Instructors – The owner of the School of Screenprinting is Bill Hood, and he created the curriculum used in the workshops. He is assisted in the presentation of the workshops by Alan Johnston of SRI Screenprinting.

Bill Hood – Hood is a veteran screenprinter with 60+ years in the industry, having been born to a screenprinter father. He has worked in all segments of the industry – textile, graphics, electronics, sign, glass, industrial, and more. Hood has consulted with other 8,000 screenprinters around the world over the past 30+ years. He is the author of 40 books and in excess of 2,000 technical articles on screenprinting. He has written for all of the major trade magazines, presented seminars and workshops around the world. He is the most qualified instructor in the world.

Alan Johnston – Alan is a veteran of the screenprinting industry with years of knowledgeable experience on both automatics and manual printing under his belt. He was chosen as an instructor for his ability to resolve problems in a no-nonsense manner and get to the solution quickly. Like Hood, he doesn’t blindly stumble through the learning process by simply listening to others and following along like a lemming. He tackles each problem by carefully considering the knowledge that is passed on, acquiring a complete understanding of the problem and attempting to not only duplicate the solution as given, but improve upon it before he passes along that information to others. He never guesses! You will enjoy Alan’s laid-back attitude and pleasant, friendly demeanor.

Why take a workshop from someone who has limited experience and knowledge, which only limits your access to knowledge, when you can have a mentor to help you succeed in whatever gets thrown your way.

Keep in mind that there is no “Master Screenprinter” title in the screenprinting industry that some instructors claim to possess.

4. Reputation -The School of Screenprinting is the oldest, continuous educational facility in the screenprinting industry. We have watched while others have tried and failed to offer workshops to no avail. The reason for their failure is obvious – no one wants to pay to attend a workshop only to be held captive to a series of sales pitches for equipment, supplies, tapes, CD’s, DVD’s, and more. During the past 30-years, we have trained more individuals than any other person. We have worked with the leading screenprinters in every corner of the globe helping them to achieve more production, higher quality, and reduce their overhead. We know all segments of the screenprinting industry intimately and you can be assured that we are uniquely qualified to help you achieve your goals.

5. Range of Workshops – At the School of Screenprinting we offer many different types of workshops during the year – entry level, intermediate and advanced workshops. Additionally, we offer workshops on art creation, separations, specialty printing, business, marketing and sales, and more. We offer customized specific aspect training sessions at your location. No matter what level you are currently printing, you will find that our range of workshops will enrich your experience, and give you an edge on the competition as we teach you how to improve your quality, reduce your costs and gain more market share.

6. Subjects Covered – At the School of Screenprinting we present more subject matter than any other training facility in just two days. Come ready to learn and increase your knowledge of the screenprinting process. We don’t waste your time on things that you could learn to do on your own. We devote the two days to presenting as many innovative concepts as possible, so that when you get back to your shop, you will know not only the HOW, but the WHY of a thing. In other words, you will learn how to think about the screenprinting process in a completely different manner. Once you know why something works a particular way you will be much better equipped to succeed. For a partial list of subjects covered in our workshops, the Subjects link above.

7. Stress-Free – As business owners, and veterans of the screenprinting industry, we know just how stressful running a business can be. We make every attempt to make the learning experience as stress-free as possible. Attendees find the mix of classroom learning and hands-on practice on the production floor work well for them.

8. Small Classes – We try to limit the attendance in the workshop so that everyone has an opportunity to ask questions and get answers. You will find the smaller class size to your advantage as you can mix and mingle with others that are on a common level. You will learn from other attendee’s experiences and gain valuable relationships with other attendees from different areas of the country, as well as foreign countries. Why attend a workshop with 30 people or more and get lost in the shuffle? We care about your learning experience at the School of Screenprinting.

9. Convenient Locations – We offer workshops at several locations.

Austin Texas – This is our headquarters, located midway and within easy travel from anywhere in the country. Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World with a huge entertainment area. Come for the workshop, but spend a few extra days enjoying golf, the dozen lakes where you can rent a boat, water ski, snorkel, or enjoy other water sports. Hike alongside Town Lake, which runs through the center of Austin and offers an excellent track. Rent a paddleboat and cruise the river. Whatever your desire, you will find that Austin has something to offer for everyone. The food is diverse and plentiful with a greater number of chefs than any other city per capita. The Austin workshops are presented by Alan Johnston of SRI Screenprinting and Bill Hood is in frequent attendance.

Manalapan New Jersey – We also offer workshops in conjunction with Performance Screen Supply located in Manalapan, New Jersey, which is halfway between Philadelphia and New York City. While visiting in Manalapan, you can drive into either city and enjoy a Broadway musical or visit the Liberty Bell and walk down the same path as the fathers of this country. Visit the first library in the United States or enjoy world-class art at one of the many fine galleries. Or simply enjoy the quiet countryside or beaches in New Jersey. Manalapan is very close to Asbury Park! Although this workshop is presented at a screenprint distributors location, we have an understanding with Bob Drake of Performance that the workshop is to be strictly a learning experience. Bob could not agree more, and in fact, never attempts to sell products before, during or after the workshops. As the workshop is held on the weekend, Bob is usually at home with his family.

Cuernavaca Mexico – We also offer training from time to time at our location in beautiful Cuernavaca, Mexico, just an hour south of Mexico City. You will find Cuernavaca to be an absolutely wonderful experience, with it’s year round temperature of 72-degrees Fahrenheit, tropical vegetation, and world class cuisine, and inexpensive lifestyle. Cuernavaca offers the largest number of Spanish language schools in all of Mexico and within a week, you can be communicating in Spanish with little problem.

Mumbai India- We are Visiting Instructors at the Dhirubhai Mistry Institute for Print Education, Research & Training in Mumbai (DMI). DMI is aimed at teaching the same sound fundamentals and advanced techniques that are used world wide by successful entrepreneurs in screen printing. Its training programmes are meant for cost effective yet quality print solutions so that screen printers are able to increase productivity and profitability. The workshops at DMI are among the best in the world and are presented by Bhargav Mistry of Grafica Flextronica, the largest and leading manufacturer of screenprinting equipment in India.
