How long has Solutions Journal been published?
Solutions Journal begin in 1983 as the now defunct Austin Arts BBS, a computer bulletin board system based on Usenet, and operated by Bill Hood as a means of disseminating information to screenprinters in the Austin, Texas community. Within a few months it was receiving hits from around the world, and the name was changed to be more descriptive of its readership and goals. We were the first online screenprinting magazine, the first to broadcast audio information for the screenprinting community, and with the advent of the Internet in 1993 the first Internet Radio Station – Screenprinters Radio.
How are you funded, if you do not accept advertising?
We are funded by the subscriptions of our readership. It is our goal to provide information that is free of advertising and more so to avoid having advertiser create a bias to our articles. Unlike every other magazine in the screenprinting industry, we are owned and operated by a screenprinter, Bill Hood, who earns his living within the industry.
What is the cost of a subscription to Solutions Journal Magazine?
The subscription is $24.95 per year – about 7-cents a day. Subscriptions are renewed annually, and subscribers can cancel at anytime during the year after the subscription is renewed. Subscriptions are not refundable. The site is available 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection for $2. a month. That’s is a lot less than the price of a printed magazine with 75-percent advertising for things that you don’t need. We present knowledge, technological information and up to date news and it is available when you need it. You don’t have to wait for the post office to deliver monthly. All you have to consider – is your business and it’s continued success is worth 7-cents a day?
Who writes the articles at Solutions Journal?
The majority of articles are written by industry author, Bill Hood, who is the author of 32 books on screenprinting and over 1,000 articles – making him the most prolific author in the screenprinting industry. Over the last 20 years, he has written for most of the major industry magazines in the United States and abroad. He has been an industry consultant for the past 30 years, visiting well over 8,000 shops worldwide during this time. Today, he owns several industry related businesses, including UltraSol Ink (with business partner Roberto Gonzalez), the Screenprint Store, the School of Screenprinting and others. Other writers are encouraged to submit articles to the magazine.
Can I share the articles with others, or publish them on my blog or website?
All content published on Solutions Journal Magazine is copyrighted and protected with TraceFusion, which marks each premium download with a unique digital encrypted signature containing information about the identity of the premium member who downloaded the content. If a premium user accesses and shares the premium content of the magazine, the software will be able track and discover which member leaked the content. Any premium member who shares the copyright content of the magazine will have their subscription terminated immediately and will no longer be able to access the site.
