Every restaurant in Mexico swears that they have the greatest salsa of all. But, then every home cook makes the same statement. Of course it is the ingredients that make a great salsa.
We won’t debate that your grandmother’s recipe is the greatest every, but this salsa is great and you can certainly improve on anything. Right?
This salsa recipe is a must try on your journey to create the greatest salsa. It is loaded with flavor, has an amazing texture. And, best of all it is Gluten Free and Vegan. Feel free to alter it to your own taste!
- 1/3 cup Cilantro, fresh
- 3 Garlic cloves, minced
- 1 ea 4.5 ounce can Green Chiles, mild, medium, or hot
- 3 Jalapenos, finely chopped
- 1 Red Onion, finely chopped
- 1 ea 15 ounce canned Tomatoes
- 4 Tomatoes, ripe, peeled and chopped
- 3 tbsp Lime Juice, fresh
Baking & Spices
- 1-1/2 tsp Salt
- 2-tsp Sugar
- 1 tbsp Cumin, ground
Peel the tomatoes – To make the tomatoes easier to peel the tomatoes, make slits in the skin of the tomatoes and place them in a pan of boiling water. Leave for 2-3 minutes and remove, to find that they are extremely easy to peel!
Combine all liquid ingredients first in a large bowl, stirring in each as it is added.
Add the Salt, Sugar, and Cumin to the liquid, stirring in each as they are added.
Combine all other ingredients into the liquid, stirring in each as it is added. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
