Living on the side of a mountain in the semi-tropical south of Mexico, I remain amazed — even after all these years — at the beauty of my garden. Unlike in Texas, where I lived previously, the plants and flowers do not need constant attention to thrive. A brief shower from the garden hose once a week produces the most beautiful view year round. And, totally unlike Texas, the weather here is an almost perfect 72˚F year-round temperature. There are only two seasons – dry and wet – and the wet season only last for 3 months.
One morning as I was admiring my garden I noted a bud that was beginning to bloom. Later in the afternoon, as I was enjoying a cup of coffee in the garden, I saw the most glorious red flower that had emerged from that bud, and I knew I had to capture my Afternoon Glory. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
