Preventing Emulsion Haze
The number one cause of emulsion haze is due to underexposure, followed by cleaning with “hot” chemicals such as lacquer thinner. These will “lock” the emulsion into the mesh threads and reclaiming will be difficult and costly. Always fully expose your stencil completely through the entire thickness. This will require a thickness gauge to measure the stencil thickness. By knowing that a particular stencil is 20% thicker than one that exposed perfectly, you can simply add 20% exposure to the new screen and achieve a full exposure from bottom to top – every time.
