It is important to clean up your life on a daily basis. Ridding our life of the things that do not provide for improvement are a necessity if we are to find joy in life. Your goal should be to find peace, serenity, and tranquility in your life.
Sometimes, we have to cleanse our life of those things that are not contributing to our goals. Once you remove them from your life, you create more space for those things that will provide a better life for you and those around you. Let's talk about some of the things that you might consider getting rid of in your life.
Excuses are the lies that sabotage our life. They are the lies we tell ourselves so that we do not have to accept guilt and apologize.
Find success and content in your life by focusing on your errors and failings and what could be learned from them. See the errors as an opportunity to focus on controlling your life.
Externalizing blame by making excuses seemingly relieves you of responsibility but mitigates against your growth as a better person. If you think your failings are mainly not your fault, you go through life complacent that you are fine and do not need to make any effort at self-improvement.
Fear
Fear creates anxiety, where we overthink and only make things worse. Allowing fear to be a part of our thinking process only makes matters worse.
Fear makes you worry and makes things worse than they are. Fear paralyzes and destroys your ability to think clearly. It keeps you from getting to where you want to be
Guilt
Guilt is a negative emotion that can be paralyzing. You can feel guilty for something you did, and for something you didn’t do. You can feel guilty for something another person thought you did, or for not doing enough for another person.
Certainly, if you knowingly cause harm to another, then guilt and remorse are natural. This feeling can catalyze a person to apologize, correct the wrong, and do better in the future. This would be an appropriate reaction.
When we inadvertently do the wrong thing, we have to be courageous enough to admit our mistake. The best apology to ourselves or anyone
Negative People
You do not have to be friends, or be in a relationship with anyone that doesn't support you and brings your energy down. Surround yourself with the most positive, uplifting, low maintenance people that you can admire and respect.
The more relationships you have with those who do not take from you and genuinely want you to be a better person, the more repulsed you will become with those who are taking from you, those who absolve themselves from responsibility with excuses, and attempt to bully you into being something that is harmful to you.
You can only grow by outgrowing people that are not
Negative Self Talk
We are defined by the lies we tell ourselves every single day, moment to moment. Recognize when a phase, a job, a life stage, or a relationship is over and let it go.
The negative self-talk you tell yourself, such as those, which begin with, "I am not..." rather than I am..." are leading you in the wrong direction. Cease telling yourself, "I am not good at this.", "I am not good enough." or "I cannot change."
Pleasing Everyone Else
Stop attempting to please everyone else. It is impossible to make everyone else happy. That is there responsibility. We lose ourselves trying to please everyone else. And, then we lose everyone trying to find ourselves.
Cleansing your life of traits which do not improve
And remember it is your responsibility to be your own person first and foremost. Placing your own self-interests below the interests of others only provides an opportunity for others to control your destiny. It is your thoughts and desires that should be most important in your quest for a better future. Be your best and act as a mirror for others.
