Good News from US Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration just announced a major change: Expats no longer need to wait for forms in the mail or send them back overseas. Instead, key foreign forms — including the SSA-7161 and SSA-7162 Foreign Enforcement Questionnaires — can now be completed through a signature proxy (attestation) process by phone or in-person with Social Security or your local U.S. Embassy’s Federal Benefits Unit.

The Social Security Administration was spending more than USD$75 million each year sending out those forms. The current administration has reduced the Social Security Administration to a mere shell of what it was and gutted its budget. All of this is believed to be in preparation for the current administration to cease social security altogether. Hopefully, the courts will stop them from doing so
