Elmar Messerschmitt (2 Dec 1920 – 8 Sep 1992). Dr. Messerschmitt was the president of Seri-Plastica, Ltd., a manufacturer of screen printing instrumentation and equipment, and was the Managing Director of Ingo-Chemie GmbH, Prof Messerschmitt is best known in the professional world as a pioneer of screenprinting in Germany. His expertise has been recognized in the industry around the world.

He received over 50 patents for screenprinting inventions. He is credited with inventing new machinery and is probably best known for the mechanical tensiometer for measuring mesh tension.

Dr. Messerschmitt received many awards, including the Pioneer Award for lifetime achievement, the Parmele Award for outstanding screenprinting industry contributions, and the Swormstead Award for outstanding technical writing. In 1981, Dr. Messerschmitt was inducted into the Academy of Screen and Digital Print Technologies (ASDPT).

Dr. Messerschmitt is buried at Friedhof Passing, Stadtkreis München, Bavaria (Bayern) Germany, along with his wife Anneliese Messerschmitt (26 Dec 1937 -15 Jun 2014), and family members Gertrud Bank (1916-1979), and Hannelore Pusch (Dec 5 1939 – Nov 7 2018)
