Targian TanTargian Tan – Tan started his business, Central SPS, in the early 1970s, with headquarters in Jakarta and several branch offices throughout Indonesia. Two new companies were developed in Vietnam and China in the 1990s.

Since 1980, he has translated screenprinting techniques and pad printing articles into Indonesian language and Chinese, including analyzing programs in screen fabric, stencil making, ink, and printing.  Many glossaries in screenprinting industries and guidance of usage for equipment or tools in Indonesian and Chinese languages have become standard documentation.

Tan is also qualified in those simplified Chinese characters used in Mainland China and Singapore, and the traditional Chinese dominated Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and other regions. Technical and product information is translated widely and used in various training institutions for screenprinters.

He is a distributor of screenprinting materials and equipment. Since 1990, he has encouraged new screenprinting technologies through seminars, technical training, and workshops on screen meshes, inks, emulsions, and substrates, spread out in many cities in Indonesia, China, and Vietnam.

Active in the screenprinting industry since Mr.Tan has made considerable contributions to four-color halftone printing for poster printing and modern “Batik motif”  textile printing in Indonesia. In 1989, he introduced screen printing into traditional Batik wax printings in Central Java and Fine Art Printing in Bali.  These two industries are the most dominant segments in the screenprinting industries in Indonesia.

Tan is active as an Executive Committee Member in the Asia Screen Printing and Graphic Imaging Association (ASGA) and a member of the Specialty and Graphic Imaging Association since 1971. He is the Chairman of the Indonesian Specialty Graphic Imaging. Association

In 2007 Tan was a judge at China Screenprinting and Graphic Imaging Association, Beijing, China.

Tan is a 2008 inductee into the Academy of Screen and Digital Print Technologies (ASDPT).
