H. Day, was founded in 1887 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company made many of the early roller mills and other specialty equipment for the ink, paint, plastics, chemical, pharmaceutical and rubber industries. J. H. Day was also the third largest company in the food processing field.<\/p>\n<p>The first plant was at Court St. and Broadway. In 1895, Day built a new plant at 1144 Harrison Avenue. In 1917, the company was acquired by the Lyn Superior Co., at 3256 Spring Grove Ave, which became the Day Plant No. 2. This provided the company with 250,000 square feet of manufacturing space.<\/p>\n<p>In 1955, the Cleveland Automatic Machines Co., of Norwood (an enclave of the larger city of Cincinnati), purchased J. H. Day Co. Ltd. Cleveland Automatic Machine was a subsidiary of the R. K. LeBlond Machine Tool, Co., a prominent Cincinnati lathe manufacturing concern located at 4932 Beech Ave. in Norwood.<\/p>\n<p>R. K. LeBlond founded LeBlond Machine Tool Company in 1887 to manufacturer metal cutting lathes.
