He studied law in Basel, Switzerland, and Heidelberg. As a student, Richard worked for almost three years at the University of Heidelberg as executive secretary of the Foreign Department. After a stint at the courts of law, Richard went to the US to work in NYC in the brewery supply business.

Returning to Germany in 1958, he took over as managing director of KIWO (Kissel & Wolf GmbH), then a tiny manufacturer of adhesives and similar chemical-technical products, which the Eisenbeiss family had taken over in 1956. The company soon branched out and acquired a producer of screen lacquers for the textile printing Industry. During the following years, the company began supplying the developing screenprinting industry and eventually became one of the leading suppliers, known for its printable adhesives and light-sensitive screen emulsions. The company grew into a group, now sells worldwide, and has subsidiaries and related companies in Australia, India, Singapore, and the USA. In 1999, KIWO acquired the Ulano Corporation of Brooklyn, NY.

Richard is the Chairman of Soral AG, Basel, and Albert Rose Chemicals, Berne, Switzerland, managing director. He serves on the Board of Kiwo Inc., Seabrook, TX, Kissel & Wolf Australia Pty. Ltd., Kiwo Holdings Inc. of Delaware, Albert Rose Chemicals (India) Pvt.Ltd., Ahmedabad and Mumbai, Indochem Pty. Ltd. of Singapore and Saxon Screens GmbH of Frankenberg, Saxony, Germany. He is a member of the Academy of Screen Printing Technology, Fairfax, VA, USA, and was chairman in 2001 and 2002.

Eisenbeiss is a 1984 inductee into the Academy of Screen and Digital Print Technologies (ASDPT).

KIWO

Today, KIWO is a leading manufacturer of chemical products for screenmaking and specialty adhesives. They offer a complete line of screenmaking products, including AZOCOL, KIWOCOL, POLYCOL photo-emulsions, CLEANLINE for environmentally safe screen cleaning, KIWOPRINT and other specialty screen printable adhesives, KIWOMAT high precision coating machines and a complete line of Computer-To-Screen equipment.

KIWO products and services have been setting standards throughout the industry for decades. A quality built upon their ISO 90001 recognized quality management system.

Timeline of Growth

In the second half of the 19th century, Germany developed from an agricultural into an industrial state.

In 1893, both Kissel + Wolf and the lacquer manufacturer Albert Rose were founded.

Up through the 1930s, Kissel + Wolf, then located in Mannheim, developed into one of the most important wholesalers of glues.

During World War II, the business in Mannheim was destroyed entirely.

In 1956, the business was acquired by the Eisenbeiss family. With only a handful of employees, a production facility was built in the town of Wiesloch, near Heidelberg, with adhesives comprising the main business.

Following the business initiatives of Richard F. Eisenbeiss, new areas of growth in the production of chemical products for the screenprinting and textile printing industries were developed. High-quality products such as AZOCOL emulsions and the PREGAN and PREGASOL lines soon became top sellers worldwide.

In 1963 Albert Rose Chemie was acquired. The activities as a textile printing supplier were strengthened.

The systematic growth in applications and customer education provided a further impulse toward product development.

KIWO brought numerous innovations to the market and influenced the entire industry. In doing so, KIWO became a worldwide leader in chemical systems for screenprinting.

KIWO oriented itself to fulfill the market’s demands using the synergy of three branches of industry: screenprinting, textile printing, and adhesives.

In the past few decades, KIWO added screenprinting technology to complement its screenprinting chemistry.

Today KIWO offers complete solutions in screenprinting chemistry and technology. These complement one another in providing their customers with optimal results. Using these products, KIWO customers can optimize their workflow resulting in a more productive screenprinting operation.

During the 1990s, their technical support and service were strengthened and further developed for the international market.

KIWO has recognized the importance of environmental protection and creating sustainable businesses for screenprinting. With their CLEANLINE products and service, KIWO became a competent problem solver on the business side.

The possibilities of combining digital technology with screenprinting were also quickly grasped by KIWO. With the KIWO ScreenSetter 2, a digital direct exposure system, KIWO leads the technological advancement and creates new growth opportunities for screenprinters.

Today KIWO continues to offer products of the highest quality. With many branches, production facilities, and highly competent business partners, KIWO is active in over 110 countries. And they are prepared to continue offering products of the highest quality.

Personal

Richard lives in Berne, Switzerland, and Fayence, France.
