First, as a business owner in Washington state, followed by three years at Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) in technical support and as Director of Education, and finally, 18 years with Union Ink Company as a Regional Sales Manager. During his time with Union Ink, he worked with printers throughout the United States, Western Canada, Central America, and Asia. In 1987, Mike presented over 100 technical screenprinting seminars and over 30 screenprinting business management seminars to industry members.<\/p>\n<p>He has published over 50 technical articles and contributed approximately 40 technical and business articles for Specialty Graphic Imaging Association&#8217;s monthly membership newspaper. As SGIA&#8217;s Technical Resource Associate, he was responsible for editing, reformatting, and reissuing the Association&#8217;s definitive Technical Guidebook in hard copy and CD-ROM formats.<\/p>\n<p>Working at Specialty Graphic Imaging Association in Fairfax, VA, from 1994-1997, he also served as Director for Education, instituting regional workshops, in-plant seminars, and a plant audit program. Mike expanded the core workshop program offered by SGIA, and its research and education affiliate, the Screen Printing Technical Foundation, to incorporate more current technologies. Although \u201ctechnically\u201d retired, he is still active as a consultant to small and mid-sized screen printing companies on issues such as business management, technical training and support, plant auditing, staff training, marketing, and sales.<\/p>\n<p>Ukena is a 2001 inductee into the Academy of Screen and Digital Print Technologies (ASDPT).<\/p>\n<p class=\"hide-if-no-js\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mike Ukena &#8211; Mike Ukena has devoted more than 30 years to the screenprinting industry.
